The Pillow Fight

Last week Steve posted a status on Facebook about how he & the boys had had a pillow fight in the living room but Mama probably wouldn't approve.  I chimed in to comment that I wouldn't object to the pillow fight as long as they cleaned up after themselves as I'd just cleaned the living room the night before.  Saturday, on our way to Makenzie's birthday party, I asked Steve if he'd seen my comment.  He hadn't so I told him about it.

Ethan, who was supposed to be napping in the backseat, was instead listening to us.  He perked up and said, "Mama, I was ka-powing Owix."  I totally did not understand this however as I wasn't anticipating the word "kapowing" to come from him.  I looked at Steve for translation and he asked Ethan to repeat it.  I still didn't get it but Steve was able to translate perfectly.

So I asked Ethan, "you were ka-powing Alex with the pillows, huh?"  Ethan's reply:  "Uh-huh.  Daddy taught us how to do it."  So apparently, that's where this word came from.  Daddy takes the pillow and pushes it or softly swats it at one of the boys and says "ka-pow."  They in-turn, do the same with other pillows and hysterical laughter ensues.

Tonight, I was in the kitchen fixing the boys dinner and they were gated into the living room playing.  Throw the dishwasher & the fan over the stove, I suddenly heard what I thought was crying.  I walk towards the living room and hear "ka-pow" and immediately thought, "oh great, now he's doing it with no supervision and was too rough."  I get to the living room and see Alex sitting with his paci half out of his mouth, his blanket completely forgotten on the floor laughing uproariously as Ethan "ka-powed" him one more time.  Ethan was being gentle and they were having a blast.

Alex still isn't feeling well so while Ethan played, Alex had pretty much been in the same spot sitting on my blanket holding his blanket and sucking the paci.  Ethan told me he thought Alex wanted to laugh so he thought he'd ka-pow him to make him laugh.  Such a thoughtful brother and it had the effect he was going for.  Following this little bought of "ka-pow,"  Alex went over with Ethan to all the toys and proceeded to play happily until dinner was ready.
